What's NEW at Island Winds?
"Answer is blowing in the wind" -
How it all Began

Why are Island Winds chimes
the toughest anywhere?

For over twenty years Island Winds has been providing satisfied customers with our musically tuned wind chimes. Island Winds has been at it longer than anyone else in the business and we created the category in the crafts giftware marketplace.

We know wind chimes better than anyone!

Island Winds uses solid brass or nickel plated brass connecting components throughout our wire suspension system.

A swivel and ring are used at the top of the 500lb test aircraft cable as well as an indestructible zinc plated steel eyebolt. 110lb test 7-strand stainless steel wire is used to suspend the bells.  This wire is more chafe-resistant than nylon cord and doesn't compromise tonal quality as does soft braided nylon. Comparative lab and field tests have proven that Island Winds uses the best combination of components for the best sound and lasting quality.

Island Winds chimes are made with furniture grade clear yellow birch or mahogany, buyer's choice.  After these components are fine sanded, they are soaked and dried three times in a high penetrating exterior oil finish and hand polished as the clear finish is in final drying. ( Other chimes use pine that is soft, merely painted, and splits easily.)

Dynamic lab tests have proven the select hardwoods used at Island Winds are of superior quality.

Island Winds uses a stainless steel alloy, resistant to rust with high tonal quality. This variety of tubing was selected by the musician who first began tuning our chimes, so they would produce a pleasant musical scale that can be enjoyed day after day, year after year.

Island Winds cuts its tubing to an exact length with a highly accurate machine giving accuracy to perfect pitch length to within plus of minus .0001 inch!

Listen to the difference!
